All In One SEO Pack Plugin Configuration

This WordPress tutorial explains how to setup and configure the All In One SEO pack WordPress plugin for your WordPress blog posts.

Installing and activating this plugin alone will not have any impact on your WordPress Blog's SEO. You need to set values for each of the options that All in One SEO Pack offers.

For blog settings:

In the left menu, locate the link Settings. Click on Settings, from the drop down menu that appears click on All in One SEO as shown in Diagram 1.

The All in One SEO Plugin Options page is displayed as shown in Diagram 2.

The first option is to enable or disable the plugin. Make sure you set this option to Enabled.

Click on Enabled, in order to enable the plugin as shown in Diagram 3, and then enter a title and description for your homepage. Keywords in the title help your rank position, and the Meta description helps get users to click your page link within the search engine results page for great visitor conversions.

Below are:
Canonical URLs - Checking the option enables automatic generation of Canonical URLs for your entire WordPress blog installation. This will help to prevent duplicate content penalties by Google which can be levied on you on pretext of same content. It is a must to check this option On.

Rewrite Titles – It’s all about the title tag. This is the information that you see in your browser’s title bar.
This is not visible on a page or a post or in fact any part of your blog, but only in the browser’s title bar and of course in the source code of your blog. If set, all page, post, category, search and archive page titles get rewritten. You can specify the format for them.

The Post Title Format, Page Title Format and Category Title Format is optional, you can leave it as default, especially when your blog title contains keywords.

Check the checkboxes of Use noindex for Categories, archives, tag archives. This is useful for avoiding duplicate content in your blog and keep your Blog safe from search engine penalties.

Autogenerate Descriptions - Check this if you want your META descriptions to be autogenerated if there’s no excerpt specified. This is good to check this On, in case you forget to enter a Description for any Blog post or Page.

Exclude Pages - Pages listed here will not be processed by the All In One SEO Pack. This is useful if you have other, non-WordPress, dynamic content running on your site.

Additional Post Headers, Additional Page Headers, Additional Home Headers options - Text entered here will be added to the head section of your pages. This is useful if you need to add Meta tag information for webmaster tools and so on. Understand when to use these options.

The last option Log Important Events – This is a troubleshooting tool from the developer of this plugin. If checked On, and any significant event happens which is unusual, it will be logged. Do check this option On.
