If you wish to only export Pages / Posts, select the Pages / Posts radio button to download a partial archive by using the following filters:
  1. Content published within a time frame – set a Start Date and/or an End Date
  2. Content authored by specific users. Use the Authors drop-down menu.
  3. Posts belonging to a specific Category or Tag.
  4. Only posts or only pages, using the Content Types filter.
  5. Specific posts Statuses

NOTE: This will ONLY export posts, pages, comments, categories, and tags.

Any specific uploads such as PDF files and images will need to be manually downloaded as a a back up or for transfer to the new Blog installation.

The current version of the WordPress installation gives you the option to import uploaded files, but the blog you are importing from must be live and serving images properly in order for it to work. So, do not delete your current Blog until after its media files and uploads have successfully downloaded to hard disk.

If you are planning to export your content to another blog platform, it’s best to download and save your images from your WordPress Media Library before trying to import/upload them into the new blog.
