Can't connect to MySQL server on localhost "10061"

Hi all,
I am new to this forum and new to computing as well.
For the past 2 weeks i have tried my level best to istall MySQL server in without success.

I have followed many instructions as many as i can.These are failures :-
Apply security settings / Start service on the last stage of installing.
I am using Windows Vista with 32 bit.
Please help

Can i know which version of MySQL Server you are trying to install on your system?

It is MySQL Community Server 5.5.9
I have tried in my wife laptop too,the same happened!

Currently i am using a Mysql server 5.5.8/9.

I want to access Remote server Mysql database from local/client machines. This features was worked well previouse versions 5.1.xxx. But not able activate in a new versions.

Also I tried your reference url, successfully installed with remote network option, thanks for this.

Mysql port no(3306)Firewal also opened in server. Enenthough not able to access server database. I got the following error message when connecting server database.

Hi Adheethan,

Have you tried to uninstall and re-install MySQL on your wife's laptop a few times?

If the answer is Yes, I suspect that your uninstall process is flawed and is causing a problem.

Whenever, you run a MySQL uninstall, the MySQL .ini file is not deleted in c:\programs\MySQL

Once the uninstall is completed this folder must be manually deleted using Window's file browser.

Other wise all other installations will behave in an unpredictable way, often not permitting a connection between the MySQL client and the MySQL DB instance running in memory.

BTW, what is the total amount of RAM memory on the laptop? Which specific version of Vista is loaded as the O/S?

Do you have any other RDBMS also installed such as Oracle run as a service in Vista?

I am new person this forum not a Mwinamila.
I was completly removed MySQL folder after the un-install the MySQL Server.

This is my server machine configuration,
1. Windows server 2003
2. 4 GB RAM

My problem is not able connect from client machine to Remote/web server machine. In lower MySQL versions (5.1.xx) worked well but higher version (5.5.xx) not able to connect.

Please help me.
