Site is not spacing out right.

I cannot get the shadow div on this site I've been working on to sit at the top of the screen. this is killing me. I feel like ripping my eyes out after looking at it for so long now. any and all help would be appreciated.

What do you mean you cannot get the shadow div? If you're talking about the space at the top, add this to your CSS on index.html:
