Backing up a Joomla website with security applied using cPanel

If the Joomla Administrator Folder has been password protected using cPanel, there may be problems when one tries to run the Joomla website after a complete back and restore to a local Linux box.

The problem is that the OS Level security gets downloaded with the Backup and this is Restored on the local box.

For one reason or the other when the OS Level security Login Id and Password data entry screen pop up and appropriate values are entered in the data entry screen on the local box, this is rejected.

Thus access to Joomla Administrator Login is not possible and in turn access to the Joomla admin panel denied.

To avoid this situation, just before taking a backup of your Joomla Website on the web Server using Akeeba Backup (known as Joomla Pack Backup in the past), Log in to your website cPanel and remove the Operating system level security set earlier for Joomla’s Administrator Folder.

After the Backup process is over, Login to your website cPanel and reset Operating system level security for Joomla’s Administrator Folder.

The backup done using this technique can be restored on a local computer and will run sweetly.

NOTE: For taking backup your Joomla website using Akeeba Backup (Joomla Pack Backup) please refer to
