MySQL Uninstallation

Uninstalling MySQL on Windows:

To uninstall MySQL 5.1 from Windows click on Start -> Control Panel as shown in Diagram 1.

In the control panel window that opens locate and double click the Add or Remove Programs icon as shown in Diagram 2.

The Add or Remove Programs dialog box pops up. Scroll down till the MySQL Server 5.1 entry is reached as shown in Diagram 3.

Select this entry (i.e. MySQL Server 5.1) as shown in Diagram 4. Click on the Remove button on the right hand side to uninstall the program.

This will prompt for a confirmation to uninstall MySQL Server 5.1. Click on Yes as shown in Diagram 5.

After collecting the information that the MySQL needs, the un-installation process begins.
This will be followed by a progress bar, indicating the uninstallation process of MySQL is in progress as shown in Diagram 6.

During the uninstallation process, a window will appear where it shows the the MySQL server instance is stopped successfully, removes windows services and removes the configuration file as shown in Diagram 7.

The MySQL Server 5.1 entry will finally disappear from the Add or Remove Programs as shown in Diagram 8.

NOTE: At times during the uninstalling process of MySQL from Windows via Add or Remove Program, the main folder of MySQL is not deleted.
To confirm if the folder exist or not, navigate to C:\Program Files\ and check whether the MySQL folder exits.
If the MySQL folder exist, simply delete the folder manually as shown in diagram 9.

Note: To remove all MySQL data completely from your computer navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ and locate MySQL folder as shown in diagram 10.

If the MySQL folder is not deleted from the Application Data directory, next time when you re-install MySQL, you will be ask to provide with the Current root password as shown in diagram 11. To avoid this, it is best to completely delete the MySQL folder from C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\

Note: The Application Data directory is a hidden folder. To make the folder visible go to Tools -> Folder Options, Under the View Tab, in the Hidden Files and Folder section select the Show hidden files and folder radio button as shown in Diagram 12
