Starting Open Office Impress

Impress is a component of OpenOffice.org that is used to create professional-quality presentations. Impress can publish the slides created, on-screen, as handouts or as HTML documents. Impress components can be used to work on slides, organize presentation contents with outlines and generate speaker notes and audience handouts.

Impress allows creating the contents of the presentation by typing in text and inserting pictures, sounds and animation. It also provides galleries of images and sounds. Impress makes the creation of any presentation simple by providing built-in professional design elements called AutoLayouts and presentation templates. It is also possible to create different versions of a presentation for different audiences and build the contents in either a text-based outline view or a design-based slide view. Impress offers a way to preview the show, add special effects to the slides as displayed on-screen and rehearse the timings of each slide.
