Starting OpenOffice Writer

Introduction:

OpenOffice.org Writer is a powerful tool for creating professional documents, reports, newsletters, and brochures. You can easily integrate images and charts into documents, create everything from business letters to complete books with professional layouts, as well as create and publish Web content.

Launching Open Office:

To start writer under windows as shown in Diagram 1:

  1. Click on the Start Applications button in the taskbar
  2. Select the OpenOffice.org 3.2 option from the All Programs
  3. Click on the Open Office.org Writer option.

When you click on the Open Office.org Writer option, a window in which you can create a text document opens as shown in Diagram 2.

If, while installing, you checked the check box for creating a desktop icon for open office, then you can directly open the Open Office by clicking on its icon on the desktop as shown in Diagram 3.

A welcome screen of OpenOffice.org opens as shown in Diagram 4.

To open, Open Office Writer, you can directly click on the Text Document icon or click the File menu item and select New -> Text Document from its options as shown in Diagram 5
