Here is what pages are in WordPress:
To create a new page in WordPress 3.X.X login to WordPress as administrator, by simply entering the url_of_your_website/wp-admin in your Browser. Enter the appropriate username and password {which was provided while installing Wordpress} and then click on Log In as shown in Diagram 1.

After logging in as WordPress Admin, a Dashboard page opens as shown in Diagram 2.
The Dashboard provides access to different WordPress functions and features.

WordPress CMS provides three ways for creating a new page. You can follow any one of them to create a new page.

“Add New Page” screen is displayed as shown in Diagram 6.
From here you can, add content to page, save the page as draft, publish the page, set the page as sub-page, assign a template to a page and can change the order of the page to be displayed.

Enter the title of the page in the title text box. In our case, “About Us” is set as title as shown in diagram 7.
Click the HTML tab, enter the content in the page editing area as shown in Diagram 7. You can compose your page either in Visual or in HTML view.

Click Visual tab to view the content of the page as shown in Diagram 8.

On the right hand side publish box, click Publish as shown in Diagram 9.
This box contains buttons that control the state of your page. The Published status means the page has been published on your blog and is visible for users. Draft means the page has not been published and remains a draft for you. If you select a specific status and click the update page or Publish button, that status is applied to the page.

“Page published” message is displayed as shown in Diagram 10.

In the front end of website, Click the title of the page created as shown in Diagram 11. In our case, click About Us menu item.

Hover the cursor over the title of the page and click Edit as shown in Diagram 13.
OR
Click on the title of the page to open it into an editable mode.

After editing the content of the page, click Update as shown in Diagram 14.

Hover the cursor over the title of the page and click on Trash as shown in Diagram 15.

“Item moved to the Trash” message is displayed as shown in Diagram 16.
On click of Trash the page gets moved to Trash section of Page(s). So you can still recover the page from Trashed Pages.
In order to completely delete the page or recover it from the Trash, click Trash as shown in Diagram 16.

Over the cursor over the title of the page, Click Delete Permanently as shown in Diagram 17.
NOTE: You can click Restore to restore the page which is trashed.

The page will be deleted permanently and cannot be recovered.
