VirtueMart provides a module (mod_virtuemart_1.1.5.j15.zip) in its complete installation package. This module displays VirtueMart categories, the shopping cart, a product search field, an administration link, an account maintenance link and a link to the download page. This is the main module that has to be installed after installing the VirtueMart Component which is explained in Install Joomla VirtueMart Component , to make the functionality of VirtueMart accessible on your site.
This tutorial, explains how VirtueMart Module is implemented in VirtueMart.
To setup the VirtueMart module in Joomla, login to Joomla as administrator, by simply entering the url_of_your_website/administrator in your Browser. Enter the appropriate username and password {which was provided while installing Joomla} and then click on Login as shown in Diagram 1.

After logging in as Joomla Admin, a Control Panel page opens as shown in Diagram 2. The Control Panel provides access to different Joomla functions and features.

In the top menu, locate the link Extensions. Click on Extensions, from the drop down menu that appears click on Install/Uninstall as shown in Diagram 3.

An Extension Manager page opens. In the Upload Package File section, click the Browse button as shown in Diagram 4.

After clicking on the Browse Button a file navigator window opens. Navigate to the appropriate folder where the downloaded files are, select and open the VirtueMart Module as shown in Diagram 5.

The zip file name appears in the Package File text box. Click the Upload File & Install button in order to upload the file and installing them into the Joomla framework as shown in Diagram 6.

Once the file has been uploaded you will see the successful installation message as shown in Diagram 7.

In the top menu, locate the link Extensions. Click on Extensions, from the drop down menu that appears click on Module Manager, in order to activate the module on the frontend as shown in Diagram 8.

A list of modules in Module Manager is displayed. From the list of Module Name, locate the VirtueMart Module link as shown in Diagram 9.

On click of the link VirtueMart Module link the Module:[Edit] screen is displayed in the Browser as shown in Diagram 10.

Set the following parameters in the MODULE: [EDIT] screen:
Set Enabled to “Yes”.
On the right hand of screen under parameters section is Module Parameters, you can set/unset the other required parameters of the module.
The following are the list of options provided in the Module Parameters of VirtueMart Module:
Menu Class Suffix - A suffix to be applied to the css class of the menu items
Module Class Suffix - A suffix to be applied to the css class of the module (table.moduletable), this allows individual module styling
Pre-text - This is the Text or HTML that is displayed above the category listing
Show a Login Form for the customers? - Defines whether a Login Module is displayed or not.
Default value for the Remember Me checkbox? - Defines whether the Remember me checkbox is checked by default or not.
Show the Product Categories? - Defines whether the Product Categories are displayed in the Module or not.
Show List All - link? - Defines whether a link to list all products is displayed or not.
Show Administrator Link? - Defines whether the administrator link is displayed under the product browser.
Show Account Link? - Defines whether the account link is displayed under the product browser.
Open the Account Maintenance in a GreyBox? - GreyBox is a webpage UI dialog widget. It opens the page in a new inline-window and hides the other part of the website under a gray overlay.
Show Mini Cart? - Defines whether the mini cart with a link to the cart and the actual total $ is displayed or not.
Open the Cart in a GreyBox? - Defines whether the mini cart with a link to the cart and the actual total $ is displayed or not.
Show Product Search Field? - Defines whether a product search field is displayed or not.
Show Product Parameter Search Field? - Shows a link to the Product Parameter Search Form (advanced search!).
Category display type - You can set the display type to *links* to have the default display type: a link list. If you set it to *dTree*, the categories will be displayed in a dTree structure.
JSCook Type - The Style for displaying the categories: Menu or Tree
JSCookMenu Style - The Style for the JSCookMenu. Only fill in when you have selected JSCookMenu as Display Style
JSCookMenu Orientation - If you choose JSCookMenu: Either let it display horizontal or vertical!
JSCookTree Style - The Style for the JSCookTree. Only fill in when you have selected JSCookTree as Display Style
Label of the dTree Root - Whatever you fill in here: it will be displayed in the root of the dTree.
Now you're done. Just click on Save/Apply, to make sure the changes are stored as shown in Diagram 11.

The VirtueMart Module will be successfully activated (enabled) as shown in Diagram 12.
Click on Preview in order to view the VirtueMart Module on your website.
