Log into Joomla as administrator. i.e. Enter the url_of_your_website/administrator in your browser address bar. Enter the username, password {which you had provided while installing Joomla} and then click on Login as shown in Diagram 1.

After logging in to the backend, the control panel page opens as shown in Diagram 2. The Control Panel provides access to different Joomla! Functions and features.

On the texttual Menu bar move the cursor to Components - a drop down list will appear. Click on VirtueMart as shown in Diagram 3.

VirtueMart Configuration window will appear as ahown in Diagram 4.

On the left hand side of page, Administration panel, click on Check for Updates as shown in Diagram 5.

The VirtueMart Update Check window will appear, click on Check now! As shown in Diagram 6.

Now, click on the Download Update as shown in Diagram 7.

The VirtueMart Update Preview window will appear which contains the patch file list to update Virtuemart to the latest version as shown in Diagram 8.

At the bottom of VirtueMart Update Preview window, check the checkbox below to apply the patch package to VirtueMart and click on Apply Patch now button to update the version of VirtueMart as shown in Diagram 9.

A window will display showing that the your previous VirtueMart version has been successfully updated to the latest version of VirtueMart. Click on the Continue as shown in Diagram 10.

Your Virtuemart is now updated to the latest version.
