On hitting the GO Key, index.php within the website’s /public_html folder will be automatically invoked. When index.php executes, the WordPress installation process starts.
This will automatically invoke index.php within the wordpress folder. When index.php executes, the WordPress installation process is started.
WordPress 4 now gives you the opinion to select the default language to be used by your WordPress installation as shown in diagram 3.
On click of Continue, WordPress will display a note saying for you will need to know Database Name, Username, and Password and grant the user privileges to the appropriate database as created in the previous chapter.
When handling WordPress pre-install tasks all these details were noted down on paper. Hence, click on Let’s Go! as shown in diagram 4.
Next the database connection details page is displayed as shown in diagram 5. Enter the details for the MySQL database and click on Submit as shown in diagram 05.
NOTE: By default, the table prefix will be displayed as wp_. It is considered best practice to change the prefix to something else as a security measure. After changing the table prefix, do not forget to add an underscore just to keep some separation between the table prefix and the table name.
In this tutorial for demonstration purpose we have changed the prefix to ibmb_.
WordPress will now check if the settings are correct. If all the details entered are correct a confirmation screen will be displayed as shown in diagram 6.
Click on Run the install button to proceed as shown in diagram 6.
On the next screen enter information about the WordPress Admin username, the title of the new site and so on. In addition, a checkbox is displayed if the website is to be indexed by search engines or not. We recommend that this checkbox is clicked On.
Once all information is filled, click Install WordPress as shown in diagram 7.
NOTE: Do not use “admin” as the WordPress Admin username for security purpose. That said one can create a username which will be easy to remember.
NOTE: Specify a working Email address. This will be helpful, if as website owner, you forget the password for the WordPress Admin Section and want to change the password.
NOTE: For the purpose of this tutorial, we have turned off the feature “Allow search engines to index this site”.
NOTE: Once all the website content is added and the website is ready for the general public, this feature will be turned on via the WordPress Admin Section.
WordPress is finally installed on your system. A ‘Success!" message and an invitation to Log In is displayed as shown in diagram 8.
