To generate a backup using XCloner in your WordPress driven Blog, login to WordPress as administrator, by simply entering the url_of_your_website/wp-admin in your Browser. Enter the appropriate username and password {which was provided while installing Wordpress} and then click on Log In as shown in Diagram 1.

After logging in as WordPress Admin, a Dashboard page opens as shown in Diagram 2.
The Dashboard provides access to different WordPress functions and features.

In the left menu, locate the link Plugins. Click on Plugins, from the drop down menu that appears click on XCloner as shown in Diagram 3.

The XCloner manager opens. Enter the username and password in Authentification Area to access the backend of XCloner backup and restore functionality as shown in Diagram 4.

To generate a backup go to Actions – Generate Backup in the XCloner menu or click the Generate Backup button on the XCloner start page as shown in Diagram 5.

The Generate a backup screen consists of two tabs:
Database Backup
Backup database and include in this backup set : You can tick this checkbox for if you want to include your database in the backup. Uncheck this box if you want to exclude your database from the backup. By default it is set to Yes.
Add DROP SYNTAX : You can tick this checkbox if you want to add DROP SYNTAX to your database backup. It will add an extra query for each table, the DROP TABLE IF EXISTS query. When importing the sql into a database, tables that already exist, will be deleted and recreated with new data. By default it is set to No. This option is only for advanced users.
MySQL Compatibility : The Options are ‘default’, ‘MYSQL40’, ‘MYSQL323’.
Select tables to exclude from backup
Current database : You can select any tables from your database that you don’t want to include in your backup. To select multiple tables, hold down the control key and select with your mouse.
Include extra databases
To include additional databases in your backup, select them here. To select multiple tables, hold down the control key and select with your mouse.

Next click on Files Options tab as shown in Diagram 7.
You can choose a name for your backup or leave the field blank so a name for the backup will be generated by XCloner. XCloner assigns a descriptive name that will help you remember when you made the backup and what it includes.
If you want to exclude any files or folders from your backup you have to tick the checkbox in front of the files or folders you want to exclude. You will see those items appear on the right, in the Excluded Items List.
To go into a folder, just click on its name. To go one level up, click [Up a level] directly above the folder list.
After you adjusted all the settings for your backup, click the big Continue button in the upper right-hand corner of the window to start the backup process as shown in Diagram 7, or click Cancel if you don’t want to make the backup yet.

After you click Continue, XCloner will start backing up your database and files as shown in Diagram 8.
The time it takes to make the backup depends on the size of your website.
When XCloner is done, you will see messages appear at the top and bottom of the page, showing you the number of files in the backup and the size of the backup.
The Backup completed message is displayed on successful backup process.

You can navigate by clicking Actions -> View Backups in the XCloner menu on the left as shown in Diagram 9 or click the View Backups button on the XCloner start page for the details of backup.

View backups page opens as shown in Diagram 10. From this you can:

Verify the backup stored at the location specified as shown in Diagram 11.
