Description:

Xmap is a Sitemap generator component for Joomla 1.7. It allows you to create a sitemap of your website so that search engine robots will have explicit paths to follow to locate the website’s resources and index them.

The following are the list of Xmap’s features:

• The capability to create more than one sitemap with different preferences for each sitemap.
• Generates XML sitemaps compatible with Google, Yahoo, Bing and others.
• Cache system to allow the fastest sitemap generation. Ideal for large or high traffic sites. This feature can be enabled or disabled independently for each sitemap.
• Exclude menu items from the site map by logging as a super user directly from the frontend.
• Has the option to compress the XML sitemap.

• One can specify the priority and change frequency parameters for each menu and now for every item in the site map.

Open a Browser window and enter http://www.google.com in the address bar and hit GO.

In the Google search windows that opens search for xmap for Joomla 1.7 as shown in Diagram 1.

In the Search results window Click on the extensions.joomla.org link http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/structure-a-navigation/site-map/3066
As shown in Diagram 2.

This will navigate to a new page from where the xmap component for Joomla 1.7 can be downloaded as shown in Diagram 3.

Click on DOWNLOAD to download the Xmap component as shown in Diagram 3.

When you click on DOWNLOAD, a new tab will open in the Browser which will display the Download Page http://joomlacode.org/gf/project/xmap/frs/?action=FrsReleaseBrowse&frs_package_id=3882
as shown in Diagram 4.

Click on the stable Download link of the Xmap component ( pkg_com_xmap-2.1.zip ) as shown in Diagram 4.

After clicking on the link, a new window will open to download the zip file as shown in Diagram 5.
NOTE: The Save file, radio button is active.

On click of OK, a file browser will open up. Navigate to an appropriate folder on your hard disk and save the zip file on your local computer, - eg: “X:\xmap”. Here X represents an appropriate drive letter on your computer as shown in Diagram 6.

The zip file would be successfully downloaded and saved in the folder chosen as shown in Diagram 7.
