Why Joomla CMS Gets Updated Regularly
There are a large number of concerned and committed people who keep a watchful eye on Joomla CMS.

Updating Joomla CMS 3.0.X to its latest version is a convenient One Click affair. Hence there is no real reason not to update the Joomla CMS core whenever a new version is released.
NOTE: It’s a good idea to do a complete backup of your Joomla website just prior to doing an update, as insurance against the 1% chance that the upgrade breaks the website. Should the upgrade break the website, roll back the website using the upgrade and get help to fix the website breakage.
NOTE: Specific, customized, extensions written exclusively for a specific version of Joomla are what normally cause website breakage. If you suspect this contact the extension creators, and ensure that the extension is upgraded to work with the latest version of Joomla. In this material we are going to show you just how simple it is to update Joomla CMS. To run the one click update of Joomla 3.0.X you have to login to Joomla as its administrator. In the Joomla Admin panel look in the right hand side bottom section. There will be a message displayed indicating the Joomla needs to be updated as shown in diagram 1.
The link displayed reads Joomla <version number> Update now!. Click this link.
On click of this link you will be taken to the Joomla 3.0.X automatic update user interface as shown in diagram 2.
Click Install the update as shown in diagram 2. Notice that Write files directly has been selected in the drop down list box. This ensures that Joomla CMS files are downloaded and written directly to the hard disk drive whenever the Joomla installation exists.
This is the quick one click upgrade process which requires no Admin intervention at all.
The download and update of Joomla takes a minute or two depending on Internet bandwidth.
NOTE: Normally the update occurs between your Hosting server and the Joomla update server where the bandwidth available is really large.
During Joomla core updation a progress bar is displayed as shown in diagram 4.
Once the update completes the Joomla Version Update Status screen is displayed in your Browser as shown in diagram 5.
This screen contains the message:
Your site has been successfully updated. Your Joomla version is <version number>.
Click the Joomla logo at the top of the screen to return to the Joomla Admin interface. This will now indicate that you have the latest version of Joomla installed as shown in diagram 6.
Updation of the Joomla CMS core is complete.
